SHONKTI
SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
Last updated: 01-Oct-2026
At Shonkti Private Limited, we want to sell beautiful products while treating people and the planet with care. This policy describes our goals and commitments. We are a growing business and sustainability is an ongoing journey, so we focus on steady, honest progress.
4.1 Our approach
We aim to reduce our environmental impact, support fair work, and be transparent about what we do and what we are still improving.
4.2 Responsible sourcing
- We work, wherever practicable, with tribal artisans, weavers, craftspeople, and suppliers who follow applicable laws on labour, safety, and fair wages.
- We do not knowingly source from suppliers that use child labour, forced labour, or unsafe working conditions, and we expect suppliers to follow our supplier standards.
- We prefer to work with local and small-scale makers and to support traditional crafts where possible.
4.3 Materials
- Wood: We aim to source wooden products from legally harvested timber, and to favour responsibly managed, reclaimed, or plantation-grown wood where available. We comply with applicable forest and timber laws.
- Textiles: We aim to offer natural, handloom, and low-impact fabrics and dyes where practicable.
- Jewellery: We aim to source metals and stones through lawful, traceable channels. We do not knowingly deal in conflict minerals.
- Decor and furnishings: We aim to prioritise durable, repairable products designed to last.
4.4 Packaging
We are working to reduce plastic and unnecessary packaging by using recycled, recyclable, or biodegradable materials where practical, and by right-sizing boxes to cut waste. Some fragile or large items need protective packaging for safe delivery.
4.5 Shipping and operations
We aim to consolidate shipments where possible, work with logistics partners who are improving efficiency, and reduce waste and energy use in our operations over time.
4.6 Product life and care
We encourage customers to buy what they need, care for products as instructed, repair rather than discard, and recycle or donate items at end of life.
4.7 Community
We aim to support the tribal artisan communities and regions we work with through fair, timely payment and long-term relationships, and where possible through skills and livelihood initiatives.
4.8 Transparency and limits of our claims
- Our goals are aspirations and commitments, not guarantees. Unless a product page expressly states a certification or specific claim, we do not represent that every product meets a particular environmental, ethical, or organic standard.
- Sustainability depends on our suppliers and the supply chain, which we cannot fully control. We rely in good faith on supplier information.
- We will not make environmental claims we cannot support, and we will correct our policy if we find a claim is inaccurate.
4.9 Continuous improvement
We will review this policy at least once a year and update it as our business grows and as we learn.
4.10 Feedback
